Oak and Urushi Lacquer
Trees that grow together share the same light and bend with the same wind.
These vessels began life as an Oak tree — encouraged by the light and then shaped by the hand and heart. Between the humble chisel marks and the ancient spirit of Urushi Lacquer, is the same breath taken by tree and by maker. The rhythm of the breath becomes the rhythm of the chisel and the heartbeat of the process.
What was once a vulnerable piece of Oak and raw sap hardened into an object, both honest, enduring, and longing to be used in ceremony.
Each one is the same and each one is a little different. Each one waits to be held.
